Mission Point, Michigan
April 2007

People often tease people from Michigan that they describe where they live by holding their right hand face up and pointing to locations on their palm and fingers.

Most people would probably locate Grand Traverse Bay by pointing to the tip of their fourth/ring finger.

There is a bay off of Lake Michigan
that has two large branches with a narrow peninsula protruding northward in the middle.
At the tip of this peninsula is Mission Point.

This is a view of the lighthouse from the side.

The lighthouse is still used and it seems that people live in it.  Tourists are not allowed inside the surrounding fence or the lighthouse.
