Craters of the Moon
North Flow
There is a
trail at about the first stop on the loop drive. This is called the North Flow. |
||
Hopefully this photo portrays how interesting the old lava flows can look. | ||
While wandering along the
trail, one arrives at this old gnarled tree. There is a plaque that gives a discussion about scientific efforts to date this tree. It ended up proving to be much older than people first anticipated. |
||
An old river of lava. | ||
The placard said that these were pieces of a cone that had broken apart and flowed along with the lava until they were dropped here. |
